Nutrition

Chiropractic Nutrition is the use of diet and whole food nutritional supplements to support the Chiropractic Adjustment and is the tool for addressing the biochemical aspect of nerve interference from spinal misalignments.

Spinal misalignments and individual muscle dysfunction are common ways the body speaks to us about its needs. Disturbances in function cause decreased physiologic performance by way of the viscero-somatic reflex. Chronic visceral (organ) dysfunction and/or overload will cause a persistent or recurring spinal/muscle malfunction.

“Let your food be thy medicine and your medicine thy food.” Hippocrates

Despite what you may have heard our health in this country is deteriorating year by year. The rate of all degenerative diseases in America is increasing. We have more asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, arthritis, allergies, dementia, digestive disorders, and obesity than ever before in history. Our children are becoming fatter, sicker, and slower than ever before. At the same time we spend more money, have more medical doctors, and more prescription drugs than any civilization currently, or ever in the history of mankind….but it’s not working.

At Asheville Chiropractic & Wellness Center we treat the whole individual and not just transitory symptoms by following the three rules of nutritional health:

  1. Keep the harmful/bad substances out.
  2. Put the good/useful substances in.
  3. Allow time to produce healing.

We combine a patient’s health history with a complete clinical nutritional assessment in order to develop a comprehensive plan of action that addresses the individual’s health goals. In our office we mostly use organic whole food nutritional phytonutrients and herbs along with healthy food plans/diets to address the body’s seven pillars of functional health (i.e. Digestive Potency, Endocrine/Hormonal, Glycemic Management, pH/Mineral Status, Immune/Inflammatory Status, Circulatory Status, and Cellular Vitality).
